What is the Outstanding Site Visitor Award?
The Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) recognizes two Site Visitors annually, one educator and one practitioner, for their outstanding contributions to the PAB’s mission of ensuring the high quality of planning education. Site Visitors who have participated in at least three PAB Site Visits are eligible for nomination.
How are the Outstanding Site Visitor Award recipients selected?
Each spring, PAB asks program administrators and colleagues for nominations. PAB then selects the winners. The educator award is presented during the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) conference in the fall; and the practitioner award is presented during the American Planning Association (APA) conference in the spring.

Become a Site Visitor
Serving as a Site Visitor can be an extremely rewarding experience. It provides the opportunity to visit universities around the country, meet planners, educators, students and community leaders, and gather new ideas and perspectives on planning.
While a rewarding experience, a Site Visit requires team members to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time. Site Visit Teams are comprised of three team members – two educators, one practitioner – with one member designated as the Site Visit chair. Site Visitors act as an extension of the PAB. Their primary role – serving as evaluators – is to ensure that the accreditation guidelines and criteria set forth by the PAB are being met, in accordance with the mission and goals stated by the programs seeking [re]accreditation.
